Gael Casner is more than a "college counselor." She made sound suggestions regarding the classes our son needed to take throughout his high school years as they learned together what his interests and goals were regarding college. It truly was a process, and her experience and guidance was invaluable from start to finish. We watched our son "own" the college search and admissions process, mature and assume responsibility of the application process. He involved us more, we think, because we didn't "manage" him during that time. With Gael's help, our high school years with him were delightfully free of the stress we were told would happen around the college search. Gael is a gem!

Simply put, Gael's perspective and experience in the college identification, application, and selection process was invaluable. The sheer number of colleges to consider, combined with an application process that can be overwhelming, requires a special kind of advisor – Gael is that and more. She has experience with a large and diverse range of schools nationally, and thoroughly understands the application process. She knows how specific colleges consider applicants and provides tangible advise on how to select prospective schools which meet the specific needs and wants of the student with whom she is working. We appreciate Gael's help and advice in all aspects of this process, and are truly grateful to her for the wonderful guidance she provided our children – and us – about the best options that would be a great fit for our kids.
Our oldest is two weeks away from starting his sophomore year (go Statesmen), and our youngest begins her freshman year the day after he does (go Bobcats). Both worked with Gael, both had great choices that truly fit who they are. We will always be grateful to Gael for helping make this happen.

We loved working with Gael on the college search process for both of our kids. Gael is an invaluable resource from the very beginning of high school when she can advise on what classes to take, right through to the weighing of options when the final college choice needs to be made. Gael is always available for questions on the nuts and bolts of the admission process and she has great, first hand insight on an amazing array of schools. Best of all, Gael guides with a firm, patient, and realistic approach….much needed during what can be a very stressful time. With Gael as the point person on deadlines and on feedback on the essays, we as parents were able to be in a support, rather than nagging, role. Our kids went to schools that were not on our radar and they (so far on the last one) both were perfect fits. We wholeheartedly recommend Gael!

"When our first daughter, Christina, applied to colleges, we went to Gael. She was so helpful and informative that we decided to bring our younger daughter Victoria to her. We actually brought Victoria to see her when she was a sophomore and needed help in selecting her junior class curriculum. Gael's assistance was invaluable when the time came for the college application process. We were most impressed with Gael's expert knowledge, her insightful advice, and her positive outlook (which rubs off on you). Gael is an educator, as anyone can see, and this was most evident in the ways in which she helped our daughters take ownership of the process of preparing for and applying to college in general. As a result, both times we were able to relax and enjoy our girls in their last two years in high school. It was gratifying to witness Christina and Victoria return self-confident, motivated, and organized, after meeting with Gael. We consider Gael a valuable asset, and we highly recommend her."

"Wow. What a process. Now that we are on the other side of it, I can clearly see how valuable Gael's work has been. My daughter and I were both anxious about the college application process and had heard all sorts of horror stories, but Gael took our hands and hearts and led us calmly and with great care through the process. The outcome could not have been better."

"Hiring Gael Casner to guide our two children through the college search process was the best gift of support we could have provided them. Gael immediately engaged both our son, Alex, and our daughter, Katie, who are two years apart. Each used Gael's talents a bit differently; each student could not be more different. From the start, I was impressed by Gael's values-based assessments to really get to the core of each students unique needs and areas of interest. I loved her approach that looks at the time after school starts, "what will support you after a difficult day, or a week of difficult days!"
Gael's experience and pragmatism guided both students through the college selection process, the personal essay and defining the timelines to meet their application deadlines. Both students applied to a List of First Choice Schools and each of them had excellent choices come April 1st. Alex could not be more fulfilled than he currently is at Tufts University and Katie starts at Loyola University Maryland in the fall. Every school on their respectively First Choice Lists were an excellent fit.
I relied totally on Gael's expertise and it relieved so much stress from the parent student senior year. I am exceedingly grateful to have Gael shepherd our children!"
